José María SÁNCHEZ-VERDÚ

Composer, conductor and musicologist. Degree in Law (Complutense de Madrid) and International Doctorate (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid). Honorary Professor of Composition at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf and since 2019 Professor of Composition at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid.

Awards: Irino Prize (Tokyo), Förderpreis of the Siemens-Stiftung (Munich), Prize of the Bergischen Biennale (Wuppertal), Culture Prize of the Bavarian Government (Villa Concordia), National Music Prize, Prize of Honor of the Religious Music Week of Cuenca, Ibn Arabi Prize, etc. He is a numerary member of the Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid. His interest in the organ -both historical and modern- has been constant and the result of this is a very large number of works for solo organ, in chamber ensembles or with orchestra.
