Miguel BERNAL RIPOLL

Miguel Bernal Ripoll is an organist, born in Alicante (Spain). He studied Piano, Organ and Composition in the Conservatorio Superior “Óscar Esplá” de Alicante, with the teachers Mª José Carrillo, Ana Guijarro, José Peris Lacasa and Adolfo Gutiérrez Viejo. He follows his studies in the Conservatorio Superior de San Sebastián (Spain) with Tomás Aragüés and Esteban Elizondo. After having finished his studies in Spain with the highest qualifications, he studied with Xavier Darasse in the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Lyon (France), and he obtains the Diplôme National des Etudes Superieurs de Musique, with Distinction. He studies also Harpsichord and Continuo with Willem Jansen in the Seminaire pour l’Etude et la Prâtique de la Musique Ancienne in the C.N.R. of Toulouse (France). He follows international masterclasses with masters as Ton Koopman, Michael Radulescu, Jean Boyer, Harald Vogel, Michel Chapuis, Montserrat Torrent, among many others. He has obtained the degree of Ph-Doctor in the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, with a Doctoral Dissertation dealing with the organ music of J. Cabanilles, directed by José Vicente González Valle and Luis Antonio González Marín.

He develops a regular concert activity in the main festivals in Spain, as well as in France, Italy, Switzerland, Holland, Denmark and U.S.A. In addition, his activity of research in Spanish ancient music has produced as a result many papers in scientific journals, dealing with the interpretation of old Spanish music, as well as critical editions of Correa de Arauxo complete works (Sociedad Española de Musicología, 2005 and 2013), Antonio de Cabezón selected works (Bärenreiter, 2010), Joan Cabanilles (selected works (Bärenreiter, 2017) and Portugiesische Orgelmusik (Bärenreiter, 2025), these together with Dr. Gerhard Doderer.

He gives habitually courses and masterclasses in prestigious European Conservatories as Milano, Udine, Monopoli (Italy), Rennes, Boulogne-Billancourt (France), Løgumkloster (Denmark), Trossingen, Mainz (Germany). He has directed International Music Courses in the University of Extremadura (Spain). He has been Organ Professor in the Conservatories of Alicante, Cáceres and Sevilla. At present (since 2009) he is Organ full Professor in the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid, and he has also been Vice-director of this institution. He is organist in the Cavaillé-Coll organ in the Real Basílica de San Francisco el Grande, Madrid, a Church-Musseum depending of Obra Pía de los Santos Lugares (Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores). He has been awarded the Encomienda de la Orden del Mérito Civil (Commendation of the Order of Civil Merit, a Spanish civil distinction) by His Majesty the King Felipe VI in 2025.
